The event announced the formation of the Global Coalition for Nuclear Philanthropy and presented new data from Project Tempo on attitudes toward nuclear energy in Europe.
Additional participants included The Rockefeller Foundation, Blue Horizons Foundation, CleanEcon, Founders Pledge, Terra Praxis Board Member Ray Rothrock, the Rodel Foundation, and other philanthropy and policy organizations.
The Global Coalition for Nuclear Philanthropy brings together a growing group of foundations and supporters committed to advancing philanthropic capital for nuclear energy — aligned with the COP28 Declaration to Triple Nuclear Energy, a global pledge by over 30 countries to triple nuclear power capacity by 2050. The Oppenheimer Project, which co-developed the Coalition from concept to launch, will serve as Strategic Partner. The philanthropy advisory arm of Temasek Trust, TT Foundation Advisors, will provide infrastructure support for the Secretariat in its initial years, including donor-advised funds and grant management services.
GCNP will grow and align philanthropic capital across four strategic pathways, supporting more countries in exploring the safe and credible integration of nuclear into their energy mix over the next five to ten years.
