Timed to align with the United Nations’ Climate Change Conference, this 2-day event was designed to spotlight actionable ideas for human activity to achieve a sustainable relationship with the planet’s natural systems. 100 talks from a broad range of experts explored how research and scaling of technologies and practices can bring us closer toward planetary stewardship goals.

Megan Pulliam shared how repowering the world's 2,400 coal-fired power plants (2TWe) with advanced fission or fusion emission-free heat sources by 2050 is the single largest carbon reduction opportunity on the planet. It would enable a clean and equitable energy transition by eliminating one-third of global carbon emissions while sustaining local jobs and reusing existing infrastructure and transmission lines to deliver abundant clean energy to billions of people. However, for the new generation of emission-free heat sources to have any meaningful impact on energy and climate, we must transform the cost, speed, and scale of how these projects are delivered.
