The inaugural Clean Firm Power LATAM Summit (CFP-LATAM 2026) took place in Mexico on February 11, 2026, bringing together leaders in energy, digital infrastructure, policy, finance, and technology to discuss the essential role of clean, 24/7 power in supporting Latin America's digital economy. As the demand for electricity accelerated due to AI, hyperscalers, and industrial electrification, the region rose to the challenge of delivering clean firm power for sustainable growth.

One of the key sessions at the summit, titled "Nuclear Momentum on the Rise for Latin America?," explored the increasing relevance of nuclear energy in meeting the region’s clean energy demands. Antonio Vaya Soler delivered introductory remarks and moderated this engaging panel discussion. The session focused on the potential of small modular reactors (SMRs) to provide reliable, clean power for grids, industries, and digital facilities, while also addressing the necessary regional cooperation and regulatory innovations that facilitated their adoption.

Featured speakers for this session included:

  • Carol Berrigan, Executive Director for International Government Affairs & Supply Chain, Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI)
  • Facundo Deluchi, Programme Manager Officer, Latin American & the Caribbean Division, Technical Cooperation Department, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
